Apple Orchard - 11/10/25

Early in the morning, a volunteer from St Barts church (Yan) picked me up from my accommodation. We picked up a few more students and then drove to an apple orchard! It was hosted by a lovely couple, Naomi and Mike, who are apart of St Bart's church too. The orchard was beautiful they grow apples and walnuts and so much more, but not for commercial use. We were treated to some tea on arrival, and after a quick introduction, we were put into groups of three and got to work!

My group went to pick apples, we collected equal parts desset apples, and cooking apples, as Mike told us that using only dessert apples would be too sweet. Once picked, we brough them back and washed them, chopped them, grinded them and finally squeezed them into fresh apple juice! We were basically a mini factory! Nohting like a bit of manual labour >:)
We were served a delicious courgette curry for lunch, along with the most incredible brownie for dessert. After a bit more juicing, we took a nice walk around the land, and visited the massive neighbouring commercial orchard. I learned that Sommerset is famous for making apple cider!
